This June, five hardy members of the Secura team will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to try and raise £15,000 for London’s Air Ambulance charity.
The challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales – Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon, all within a 24-hour period.
Within this time, Ollie, Eddie, Dan Nichols, Neal and Sally will cover 26 miles on foot, with a total ascent of over 9,800 feet, traveling over 470 miles between the mountains in a really stiff test of their admittedly, under developed stamina and endurance.
The challenge begins with the tallest of the three mountains, Ben Nevis in Scotland, on Thursday 15th of June, taking around five and a half hours to complete the up and down round trip.
Next up, after an overnight drive to the Lake District (and hopefully some much needed sleep), is Scafell Pike. Starting this walk at 4am, the aim is to complete this trek within four and a half hours.
The final leg of the journey starts with a drive to North Wales for the Secura team to take on Snowdon. This walk will take around four hours, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge at 6pm on Friday 16th of June, after a grueling 14 hours of walking!
London’s Air Ambulance is a cause which is very close to Ollie and Eddie’s hearts and we would like to dedicate this challenge and the money that we raise to the memory of their mum, Valerie.
Every penny raised will be donated to the charity to support the incredible work they do delivering advanced trauma teams to critically injured people in and around London.
