Our resident VMware experts (and geeks!) attended this year’s VMworld Europe to enjoy four days out of the office, learning about exciting and innovative virtualisation products and technologies.
VMworld Europe 2018 was held from the 5th to the 8th of November in Barcelona and three of our very own operations team, Anthony Doncaster, Dan Miller and Chris Magee had the pleasure of joining nearly 13,000 attendees at the event – making it the biggest VMworld Europe yet.
They lined up a jam-packed schedule of sessions, keynote showcases and labs, not to mention just a little rest, relaxation and evening entertainment!
Anthony, Dan and Chris were keen to learn more about the new VMware technologies on the horizon, and what could potentially improve and build upon Secura’s solutions and offerings in 2019.
Showcase keynotes from VMware experts provided insights into the trends, innovations and solutions defining virtualisation, with particular reference to transforming networking and security, modernising the data centre, integrating public clouds and empowering digital workspaces.
As well as these specialist keynotes, there were also some interesting and more general sessions from VMware on the superpower technologies of today and tomorrow; cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, mobile, and edge and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The hands-on labs offered a chance to get to know unfamiliar and completely new VMware technologies with members of the VMware User Group on-hand to answer any questions and discuss the functionalities in detail.
Pre-Sales Engineer, Chris Magee:
It was great to see some of the upcoming features for VMware’s new and existing products, we were so impressed by the extra features added in the new version of vRealize Operations that we have already upgraded since attending the event.
It will be really exciting to see how VMware progresses its Kubernetes integrations in 2019, so it can be made more accessible to both our team internally as well as the additional functionally that we will be able to offer to customers.
The event was a great opportunity to learn more about the up and coming VMware products and technologies in greater detail, whether through the hands-on labs, showcase keynotes and sessions or merely from chatting with fellow VMware experts.
To top it all off, VMware finished a great few days with VMworld Fest, an impressive event with delicious food and drink, a Rolling Stones cover band (Counterfeit Stones) and some questionable dance moves from those in attendance!
The team had a fantastic (and educational) trip to VMworld Europe 2018, giving them a detailed insight into the key developments VMware has on their road map and those new technologies that could make a positive affect for our customers over the coming year.
We look forward to VMworld Europe 2019!
