Secura are sponsoring one of the good friends of the business, Mike Allen, on a charity bike ride organised by Charity Challenge in aid of Save the Children. To raise money for this worthy cause, Mike and his team of cyclists are embarking on an epic 345-mile bike ride across Vietnam and Cambodia.
Starting on 8th November, Mike and the team begin their journey in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Cycling through the very heart of the Mekong Delta, across waterways and past plantations, they will visit Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and explore the ancient city of Angkor in Cambodia.
The team will cover around 55 miles each day (padded cycling shorts are essential!), completing the route within 6 days, with only one day along the route set aside for recuperation. Temperatures will be pushing 30 degrees, making pedalling those miles all the more challenging – really testing the team’s stamina and endurance.
Mike is taking on this tough challenge to raise much needed funds for Save the Children. The event itself is run by Charity Challenge, who stage a wide variety of punishing events to help raise funds for charity including mountain trekking, dog sledding and even trips to either the North or South Poles. If you are interested in pushing yourself to the limit for a good cause, find out more about Charity Challenge at their website: www.charitychallenge.com.
We’ll be keeping up-to-date with Mike’s progress and cheering him on along the way (virtually obviously, from the comfort of our desk chairs) and we’ll update our website and social media with the outcome of the event.
If you would like to sponsor Mike for the event (which would be fantastic), please visit his Just Giving page. Any sponsorship will be greatly received, as will words of encouragement which can be left as comments below.
More updates to come soon… Good luck Mike!
