Secura Achieve Re-Certification for Cyber Essentials

By Hannah Simons on 22nd June, 2020.

As part of our ongoing commitment to cyber security, we are pleased to announce that Secura have been re-certified as part of the UK government backed Cyber Essentials Scheme.

Cyber Essentials

The government-backed and industry-supported Cyber Essentials scheme defines a baseline standard of security for businesses in the UK, outlining controls that all organisations should implement to help mitigate risks from common internet-based threats.

Cyber threats come in various forms, and range from simple to very sophisticated and complex breaches and attacks. However, roughly 80% of all cyber-attacks are very basic in nature and carried out by relatively unskilled individuals.

The Cyber Essentials certification is designed to protect organisations from these simple exploits, and give them the confidence that they have adequate security measures in place to minimise both internal and external threats.

To achieve Cyber Essentials, Secura independently performed a verified self-assessment. The assessment requires businesses to have five technical controls in place:

  • Boundary Firewalls
  • Secure Configurations
  • User Access Control
  • Malware Protection
  • Patch Management

The successful implementation of all five technical controls substantiates Secura’s commitment to cyber security and the protection of our customers’ data against cyber threats.

Commitment to Security

At Secura, we understand how important it is to work with a cloud partner you can trust. That’s why we look to continually develop and improve our internal processes and solutions to reinforce customer confidence.

This latest achievement is a great way to visibly highlight our commitment to security, ensuring our customers feel confident in our capabilities and that their IT systems and infrastructure are secure and protected.

Secura CTO, Dan Nichols, commented:

One of Secura’s primary focuses has always been security and having our existing security protections and processes rubber stamped by certification from Cyber Essentials is a clear indication of that commitment to our customers and prospects. It is a widely recognised UK standard for IT security and we’re delighted to be able to continue displaying it among our security certifications.
